Airlines have become very strict on luggage dimensions and weight. Check your tickets for your weight allowance and remember infants (under 2's without their own seat) do not usually get an allowance. This is when the services of www.thelittleconcierge.co.uk can be really useful; you can order online for your favourite brand of nappy and formula milk (many other items also) to be delivered to your accommodation. Type in the code QUOVADIS to receive a 5% discount.

If you know you need more then do check with us or the airline direct as it is often cheaper to prebook extra weight than pay at check-in.

Pack for your children (and yourself) layers of clothes as it is often very hot whilst waiting on the runway and can then get cooler - this varies with where your seats are so better be prepared.

Be prepared in case of a delay especially with babies - spare drinks, wet wipes, nappies and clothes. Airlines do not provide baby food so you need to take your own.

Take a supply of sweets suitable for your child's age to ease ear pain at take-off/landing or babies can be breast or bottle fed at this time.

For younger children take a few toys - perhaps something new and for older ones activity and sticker books are a great way of keeping them occupied. Try to avoid anything with little pieces as they are very easy to lose! Pencils and paper are crucial

If your child has packed his or her rucksack themselves do check that there are not any items that could cause problems when going through security checks i.e sharp pointy objects, toy guns, and Power Rangers swords have been known to cause concern!

Better to take a few small bags with hand luggage as then you can put them under your seat - it can be awkward if you have to keep standing to get to the overhead locker.
