Portomyrina Palace
Beachplus Club, Greece
The Portomyrina Palace is on the island of Lemnos (sometimes called Limnos) in the northeast of Greece's Aegean Sea, where fascinating history combines with a stunning landscape.
On the edge of the long stretch of sandy beach in the bay of Avlonas, the hotel has beautiful views towards Halkidiki's Mount Athos, and is just a twenty minute stroll to Mirina, the charming capital of Lemnos, with its shops, restaurants and imposing Venetian castle.
It is a small modern hotel (132 rooms) with a large pool set amongst landscaped grounds with well-tended lawns which lead down to the water's edge. Within the grounds of the hotel are the archaeological remains of the pre-Hellenistic Temple of Artemis, preserved as a unique feature of the hotel.
Rooms have modern furnishings and are located in the main hotel or in small two storey ‘villas’ within the gardens, closer to the beach and pool. Double, triple, interconnecting rooms and suites are available and all are large enough to fit a cot.

Surrounding Area near the Portomyrina Palace
A fifteen minute stroll from Portomyrina Palace lies Mirina, the capital of Lemnos. Built in the 12th or 13th Century BC, Mirina is dominated by an impressive Venetian castle.
The headland and castle straddles the two bays of Mirina, belonging to the town’s Greek and Turkish quarters. There are plenty of charming shops to browse - look out for classical pottery and wood carvings, local woven fabrics and embroidery - the traditional folk art of the island.
The island offers several classical sites, including the most ancient Neolithic colonisation in the Aegean - the city of Poliochni, excavations have revealed a close relationship with the ancient city of Troy.
Exploration by mountain bike or hire car is highly recommended. Travel inland and the interior is untouched by tourism. Here you will find many lovely villages full of character and a warm welcome from the local people.
Caique Boat Trips - Relax on a traditionally built Greek boat. Discover the tranquillity of the Lemnos coastline and the beauty of the island as seen by the local fishermen. You can take a Caique trip whatever time of year you travel (weather dependent) on a choice of excursions.
